ABOUT us

Vedic Yoga was born in the motherland of spiritual practice, the home of all of our Karma; India. It was through our own rich cultural experiences, deep inner practice and the incredible sense of belonging that came from such a profound sense of community that compelled us to share what we had learned, directly from the source. The humble beginnings of Vedic Yoga saw nights spent chanting Kirtan in our Elwood lounge room, introducing our students and friends to practices like breathwork and meditation and most importantly the opportunity to come together once all practices were said and done, in a friendly and loving environment to enjoy one anothers company. As VY has continued to evolve so has the sophistication of our offerings, with our main intention always being to deliver the highest calibre of authentic yogic teachings in the most loving and compassionate way.

The alchemy of Krissy & Jaydie’s teaching styles bring together the essence of the unbounded (deep, still and silent) with the knowledge & wisdom of the divine feminine (intelligent, eloquent and playful). This creates a unique learning environment where students feel grounded, safe and present, whilst also challenging the status quo through expansion, transformation and a lightness that marries the practices to an embodied way of moving through daily life with vitality and curiosity. Our ongoing vision for Vedic Yoga is to create an accessible space for consistent spiritual practice, we recognise that the most sustainable way to engage with these ancient teachings is regularly, incrementally and sequentially.

Transformation is more important than information - Sri Shakti Amma

the three pillars of vedic yoga

  • Community

Community is a mandala, a circle of belonging, purpose and authentic expression. Since its inception Vedic Yoga has sought collaboration in recognition that this is where the deepest healing takes place, together. Suffering occurs in isolation and true healing happens in community. Community cultivates a solid foundation of support for your practice, increases feelings of unity and dispels feelings of separateness and encourages the flow of reciprocity, the generosity that comes from giving and receiving.

  • Inclusivity

The practice of yoga is one of including more and more into our field of conscious awareness. That which feels desirable, comfortable, blissful and also the revelation of stored stress in the body which may feel undesirable, uncomfortable and a little sticky. To practice yoga is to remember what we are and always have been. There is no adding on, but rather a peeling away of everything that we are not. How is it that we peel away the irrelevance you ask? Shine the light of your loving, tender awareness on it, include it in your experience and see what happens. The power of inclusivity lies in the shared experience of our humanity, the birthplace of compassion.

  • Connection

Connecting with all of the intricate layers of our experience is the most important work we will ever do. Not only does expansive awareness dispel fear, judgement and bewilderment but it also brings us into more intimate relationships with those around us. When we are able to connect to the fullness of our own human experience we begin to see the world outside through the lens of love. Connection is the pilgrimage we make out of our heads and into our hearts, the home of vulnerability & divinity.

  • Yoga Teacher
    Vedic Meditation Teacher
    Movement Coach

Hi CUTIES! I am a fun loving mover and shaker who has been engaging in the practices of yoga for over 15 years. My journey began in my adolescent years with my aunty Tracy lovingly introducing me to the teachings. After a decade of working in the performing arts industry I decided to dive deeper into the world of yoga. Ashtanga vinyasa, Jivamukti and Iyengar yoga were all so captivating and instilled within me a deep reverence for my body as a powerful vehicle for expansive awareness and presence. As my yoga asana practice continued to evolve I sought out a greater understanding of the body and its sophisticated capabilities through movement culture. This versatile training method cultivated a unique perspective and teaching style which is the foundation of all of my classes. As my practice continued to deepen I became enamoured by the philosophy and wisdom that underpins the postural practice and began my journey in Advaita Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism. These wisdom traditions emphasise meditation & devotional practices supported and inspired by the underlying philosophy. I love taking these ancient frameworks of practice and applying them to modern life circumstances, creating a pragmatic approach to the timeless knowledge that has been passed down through powerful lineage. Meditation has been the most incredible catalyst for growth and transformation in my personal practice and my vision is to share the beauty of this letting go technique with as many people as possible in hopes that they may enjoy the life changing benefits that are so sorely needed in this modern world.

  • Abhyanga Massage Practitioner
    Vedic Meditation Teacher
    Puja Offerings (Homa & Abishekam)

My passion for sharing the healing modalities of Ayurveda (the science of longevity), Meditation and Puja (vedic ritual) began at the conception of Vedic Yoga in India at Sri Shakti Ammas ashram. The rich culture, heart felt wisdom and selfless service I witnessed in India left me awe struck and I felt inspired and motivated to share what had been so powerful in my own spiritual path. What transpired upon our return to Melbourne was the birth of a beautiful community where each member contributed with love to the mandala that makes up such a special part of my life; Vedic Yoga. As the community evolved so did our offerings along with my contribution. Having personal instruction in Homa (fire ceremony) and Abishekam (ritual bathing of the deity) I have adored my transition into offering Puja (devotional ritual) for all of the community to enjoy. Ayurveda has also had a big influence in my personal practice and as such I decided to train in Abhyanga (warm oil massage). I feel so privileged to bear witness to the profound effects bodywork can have on the nervous system, connection to body and overall well-being. As I continue to learn, grow and share these teachings with the community I feel excited and inspired by the possibilities upon our return from Vedic Meditation Initiator Training later this year.
